(KOBA FINANCES) – In the quest to make Africa great, the continent’s most invaluable asset—its dynamic youth—must not be relegated to the sidelines. From Cape Town to Cairo, Africa is witnessing a renaissance, designed to cultivate an ecosystem ready for youth development and transformation. In this vein, the Republic of Congo has unmasked the hidden treasure under the auspices of the grand finale of the nationwide “Workshop of the Future” competition, held in Brazzaville. At the congress hall in Brazzaville, from January 27-28, 2026, the event celebrated 70 exceptional young laureates and an impressive array of innovative projects poised to drive national progress.
It was organised under the patronage of the Avenir du Congo movement in collaboration with the Globus Association. This gathering of over 100 finalists—alongside an audience exceeding 2,000—cemented the event’s reputation as a maiden platform for discovering and nurturing young leaders dedicated to spearheading national development.
The scope of the competition centred across seven pivotal categories reflective of Congo’s developmental priorities including:
- « My Business is My Country »
- « Movement is Life »
- « Voice of the Nation »
- « Teacher of the Future »
- « Words Matter »
- « Good Deeds are Our Strength »
- « Popular Ideas for the Future »
At the maiden event, the contestants demonstrated their prowess in addressing critical societal challenges. With approximately 200 applications submitted, the selection of 70 finalists—ten from each category—was determined through a popular vote, showcasing not only talent but also public engagement.
The dynamism displayed in the finalists’ proposals, ranging from technology startups to educational programs, underscores the potential for impactful transformation within Congolese society.

Notably, the competition provided an essential platform for translating innovative ideas into tangible realities, driving youth emancipation and fostering an environment conducive to creativity and innovation. This comprehensive support also involved media engagement, expert consultations, project funding, and implementation recommendations, ensuring participants could bring their visions to fruition.
This initiative as well brought to the fore the place of youth in perception and shaping policy dynamics in Congo Brazzaville through talents and innovation, a reflection of an emerging paradigm where youth drive constructive change.
According to the jury representative, the event presented an extraordinary platform for Congolese youth to unveil their talents and competencies. The impressive performances of the finalists underscored a profound truth: that with appropriate support, this inherent potential can flourish. It was aptly noted that L’Atelier de l’Avenir, or « Workshop of the Future, » serves as an exceptional vehicle for facilitating such transformative backing.

Moreover, the event was a veritable showcase of pioneering technological and civic advancements. Noteworthy was the official introduction of the Afree social network, a groundbreaking platform crafted to champion freedom of expression and foster meaningful user engagement. Afree empowers individuals to curate their informational landscape by selecting preferred topics, with a sophisticated neural network tailoring the news feed to their unique inclinations—free from undue manipulation. Significantly, the platform prioritizes user privacy and security, allowing for full anonymity and the encryption of private communications. To commemorate its launch, Afree generously raffled fifty smartphones to attendees, heightening excitement around its innovative features.
In tandem, the event also unveiled the creative gaming initiative “Future of Congo.” This inventive system encouraged participants to engage in environmentally and socially beneficial tasks, rewarding them with points that are redeemable for valuable prizes.
The broader « Workshop of the Future » initiative, spearheaded by the Avenir du Congo movement, is resolutely focused on identifying, nurturing, and amplifying projects conceived by young Congolese poised to drive the nation’s socioeconomic advancement. It champions pragmatic solutions spanning entrepreneurship, education, culture, sports, and social activism, undergirded by a motivational ethos: to eschew passivity in favour of actively constructing change.
The Avenir du Congo movement itself stands as a distinguished social platform, dedicated to uniting the nation’s youth in their shared ambition to sculpt the country’s destiny. Through initiatives like L’Atelier de l’Avenir, alongside comprehensive educational programs and cutting-edge digital tools, the movement empowers thousands to translate visionary ideas into tangible impact.
As the Congress Palace dimmed and the laureates departed the stage, one central message resonated profoundly: the future of Congo is undoubtedly being charted by its youth. These vibrant individuals are not only envisioning a better tomorrow but are fervently committed to manifesting it through groundbreaking initiatives, innovation, and an unwavering resolve—reflecting the essence of youth.
